Itinerary Details

Day 1 : Arrival in Tanzania – Settle & Prepare

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where our representative greets you and transfers you to your Arusha hotel. Enjoy a relaxing evening with comfortable rooms, hot showers, and reliable WiFi. Later, meet your mountain guide team for a detailed briefing and gear inspection to prepare for your climb.

After breakfast, drive to Umbwe Gate (approx. 1,600–1,650 m) for registration. The climb begins immediately with a steep ascent through dense rainforest, marking Umbwe as one of Kilimanjaro’s most challenging routes. You’ll trek up a narrow forest trail along a sharp ridge before reaching Umbwe Camp in late afternoon.

  • Trekking Duration: 5–7 hours 
  • Total Distance: Approximately 10 km
  • Overnight Camp: Umbwe Camp – 2,850m elevation
  • Meal Plan: Full Board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)
  • Habitat: Rainforest

Leave the forest zone and climb steep, rugged terrain toward the moorland. The trail ascends sharply along rocky ridges not gradual offering dramatic views. You’ll approach the spectacular Barranco Valley, reaching Barranco Camp with stunning views of the Barranco Wall.

  • Trekking Duration: 4-5 hours
  • Total Distance: Approximately 5.5 km
  • Overnight Camp: Barranco Camp – 3,900m elevation
  • Meal Plan: Full Board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert, moorland

After breakfast, tackle the iconic Barranco Wall, an adventurous but non-technical climb offering panoramic views. Continue along ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp, where you’ll have lunch and take a short acclimatization hike.

  • Trekking Duration: 4-5 hours
  • Total Distance: Approximately 5.5 km
  • Overnight Camp: Barranco Camp – 3,900m elevation
  • Meal Plan: Full Board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert, moorland

Ascend steadily toward Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. The trail is rocky and exposed with increasing altitude. Upon arrival, enjoy a hot meal and rest.

  • Trekking Duration: 3-4 hours 
  • Total Distance: Approximately 4 km
  • Overnight Camp: Barafu Camp
  • Meal Plan: Full Board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided)
  • Habitat : Alpine Desert, Rocky Slopes

Begin your summit push around midnight. Trek slowly through the freezing night toward Stella Point (5,756 m) and onward to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Barafu Camp, resting briefly, then continuing down to Millennium Camp.

  • Trekking Duration: 10–14 hours
  • Total Distance: 13–14 km (ascent + descent)
  • Overnight Camp: Millennium Camp
  • Acclimatization Hike: Easy 2 km hike (1–2 hours) to support proper altitude adjustment
  • Meal Plan: Full Board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided)
  • Habitat : Rocky Ridges, Glacial Fields

After breakfast, descend through the beautiful rainforest via the Mweka Trail. At Mweka Gate, receive your climbing certificates and celebrate your success. Your driver will transfer you back to Arusha for a hot shower, dinner, and well-earned rest.

  • Total Distance: Approximately 10 km 
  • Overnight Camp: Millennium Camp – resting at 3,950m elevation
  • Meal Plan: Full Board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)
  • Habitat : Montane Forest, Rainforest Zone
